Brad Johnson


While at Florida State University, Brad Johnson played backup Quarterback behind Casey Weldon. In 1992, he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings where he earned the starting position in 1996. He was traded to the Washington Redskins in 1999 and passed for over 4000 yards in his first season. His 316 completions set a Washington team record and his 4,005 passing yards ranks second all-time in Redskins history. In 2001, he was traded to Tampa Bay where he broke team records for passing yards (3406), completions (340), and attempts (540) in the same season. He led the Bucs to a Super Bowl Championship in 2002-2003, and earned his 2nd Pro Bowl appearance.

He returned to Minnesota in 2005 to replace Daunte Culpepper as starting QB after a 2-5 start, and finished the season 7-2 with a 6-game winning streak. During this period, Brad set another team record for lowest interception to attempt ratio (1.3%). In 2007, Brad signed a 3-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys to back up Tony Romo and was released in February 2009. Among Brad’s career accomplishments are going to the playoffs under 4 different coaching systems and having winning records with 7 different head coaches. He was twice selected to the Pro Bowl (1999 and 2002), and was Super Bowl Champion (XXXVII) in 2003. Brad also holds the distinctionof being the only Quarterback in NFL history to complete a Touchdown pass to himself.

Brad lives in Athens, Georgia, with his wife, Nikki, and their two children.
