Bobby Bowden

Truly a living legend in College Football, Coach Bobby Bowden became Head Coach of the Florida State Seminoles in 1976. In the subsequent 33 years, he has achieved more success and awards than space permits. Among others, Bowden coached the Seminoles to consensus National Championships in 1993 and 1999. He is the only coach in the history of Division 1-A football to compile 14 straight 10-win seasons (1987-2000), and he has led Florida State to 30 Bowl appearances in 33 seasons – including 27 straight. He was inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006, and was awarded the National Football Foundation’s highest honor, the Gold Medal – joining the likes of Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf.

Coach Bowden has been a friend of the Tallahassee Quarterback Club since he arrived at Florida State, headlining the Fall Speaker Lineup each year since 1976. He and his wife, Ann, have 6 children and 21 grandchildren. His reputation as a man of integrity and faith has remained constant throughout his storied career, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes presents an award each year that bears his name, The National Bobby Bowden Award, to a college football player for his achievements on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
